Nissan Velocity Games Bigger and Better
This Memorial Day weekend promises to be something water sports enthusiasts will want to spend on McGee Beach instead of hitting the roads and pay high gas prices. If you like to watch high “velocity” windsurfing, this year the Nissan Velocity Games will do just that. What’s called the F2 Windward Speed Trials will challenge the World’s Record of 56 mph if the winds are right. These sailing athletes will be wearing Hi-Tech Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments that will measure to see if they will truly hit some high speeds.
The Nissan Velocity Games 06 are held each year during the Memorial Day weekend and is the host of the AT & T U.S. Open Windsurfing Regatta, the 6th annual Kiteboarding Championship, and the Wells Fargo Open SkateJam. Last year the games had more than 20,000 spectators with a sizeable increase in attendance expected this year.
“The NVG 2006 has a different focus this year,” states Tony Brady, the game’s site-manager and owner of Zero Gravity Kiteboards. According to Brady, the event this year is more community oriented. “We will have bigger SkateJams, more hotly contested events, and have the audience being more entertained.”
The Wells Fargo SkateJam will offer several contests for local skaters and the Corpus Christi Rayz will be providing a large skating ring for street-hockey games. But, the most exciting aspect of the SkateJam may just be the Wells Fargo Fun for Money Mobil Tour. Wells Fargo will launch the first ever Mobile Marketing Fun of Money Tour at the NVG, to excite and engage 18-24 year olds and show them money can be fun! The Mobil Tour is a 28’ fully-customized satellite trailer equipped with wall-mounted computer terminals, listening stations, and a DJ booth. Attendees enter The Wells Fargo Fun of Money Event and Trailer where they have exclusive access to:
The Chill Lounge, featuring 2 Money Vaults, 2 Foosball tables, and a DJ station for “Name that Tune”
The Prize Tent, Wells Fargo bankers administer event prizes worth close to $15,000; awarded through out the summer at different events. This Fun of Money tour sweepstakes is offering a fly-away trip to the Download Festival in San Francisco, including: free air fare, lodging, and Wells Fargo gift card valued at $150.
